David Schreier is President of David Schreier Associates LLC, a professional services firm founded in 2009, that assists nonprofit organizations with capacity building - resources development, planning & evaluation, collaboration strategies, program development, organization talent, marketing and communications.
David's broad-based history of working for and with local, regional and national organizations across the nonprofit sector offers him a unique perspective on nonprofit trends and innovative thinking. He has consulted to organizations with budgets ranging from under $100,000 to over $1 billion in the areas or human service, education, healthcare, arts, foundations, associations, and religion.
He has conducted numerous television and radio interviews and has been regularly cited as a source expert in the business journal Crane's Chicago Business. David is a frequent presenter of workshops and seminars on topics related to nonprofit governance and management including advancement, planning, board development and cause marketing.
David consulted for several years with a national professional services firm before starting his own company. Prior to consulting, David Served in senior position with the American Red Cross, American Diabetes Association, DePaul University and Children's Home & Aid Society of Illinois.
Education
He received a Bachelors or Arts degree in English (with honors and distinction) from the University of Illinois, a Certificate degree in Direct Marketing from DePaul University and was later awarded a Master of Science Degree in Public Administration from DePaul University.
Teaching
David is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Professional Studies at North Central College, where he designs and teaches courses on nonprofit management and governance. He has taught previously at Benedictine University and Concordia University.
Additional Expertise
David is an authorized meditation instructor, teaches programs on mindfulness-based training and serves on the board of Shambhala Mountain Center, a 600-acre contemplative retreat center in Colorado. He practices contemplative arts (Japanese flower arranging and photography) and various form of body-and-breath-centered movement.
